Rimmel London | What’s new?

Rimmel London AU are slayin’ the new releases currently… in the past month or so, we’ve seen a new; foundation & concealer, eyeshadow palettes, a mascara, a eyeliner and now a contouring & highlighting duo stick. So I thought I’d give you the 411 on what I think is worth purchasing and what you’d be okay to miss out on!

They’ve recently released the Wonder’fully Real mascara and we all know Rimmel are on top of the drug store brands for mascara, right? Well in my opinion… they are. This mascara is no exception. It is the blackest of blacks, gives your lashes volume plus length and holds all day without crumbling.

Following on with their Wonder range… they’ve also included a liquid eyeliner pen. GIRLS! Any time I’ve used this liner, I swear to god…. my wings and liner have been PERFECT! My only gripe is that it needs more pigment but seriously, you need to give this a whirl if you’ve been trying to get the hang on winged liner but just can’t.

Next up.. they’ve added to their Magnif’Eyes range with 4 new palettes. They’ve got a palette that oozes the most gorgeous blush shades, a basic nude palette with your typical gold and bronze shades, a smokey palette which is full of shimmery greys and deeper blues and a palette with token bright shades that are targeted for deeper skin tones.
These palettes are perfect for beginners or for people who may not wear make up on a regular basis but for your average make up enthusiast you might find them a little boring, mediocre and just not as pigmented as what you’re used too.

Last but by certainly not least… they’ve brought out a new foundation and concealer in their Lasting Finish line…. it’s called Lasting Finish Breathable.  Both are okay, right… they’re definitely comfortable on the skin and seem to last a decent amount of time, they’ve got a very innovative sponge applicator instead of a pump or just pouring it out but they definitely missed the mark with the shade range, it almost makes me want to dislike the products, I am normally not one to do that but it makes me mad. This foundation is literally only good if you’re on the paler end of every foundation you could think of. I normally wear a Ivory when I’m not tanned in let’s say Maybelline’s FIT Me range and I am a Soft Beige in this one?  It literally makes NO sense!

Lasting Finish Breathable

Have you grabbed any of these items from your local pharmacy or drug store? What do you think about the colour range in the foundation or the pigmentation in the shadows? Do you love the liner and mascara as much as I do? (: Let’s chat below xxx

What’s new? | Nude By Nature

Hello, my beautiful people… I recently got sent a whole bunch of new drug store products to try out and I thought I’d give you the 411 on what’s good and what I may not be loving. Have you guys picked up any new products lately? What are your thoughts, I’d love to know…

So first up, we have the new foundation from Nude By Nature. They have recently released their Flawless Liquid foundation and concealer. You can purchase the foundation for $39.99 at nudebynature.com or at your local chemist/pharmacy eg; Priceline or Chemist Warehouse. It is also available as a duo set (foundation & concealer) on their website.

“The Flawless Liquid foundation instantly provides a smooth and flawless finish but looks and feels like a second skin thanks to natural pigments that act in seamless affinity with the complexion”

What I’ve found? This foundation is a medium coverage that is buildable and extremely comfortable on the skin. I would say it gives your skin a ‘your skin but better’ kind of appearance and is long wearing but doesn’t feel or look dry or flake-y after a hours of wear. This foundation is a satin matte finish and gives you a natural, glowing from the inside type of glow.  The kind of foundation, I’d gravitate towards on a day to day basis.
For somebody who suffers from a sweaty nose (I HAVE NO IDEA WHY) a lot of foundations seem to break down and seperate around my nose but this hasn’t. YAAAS! I would confidently say it does everything it claims to do.

Bamboo Powder – is known for its soft focus properties to help minimise the appearances of pores and absorb extra oil.

Baobab Fruit Extract – is a skin softening agent with strong antioxidant properties and is rich in Vitamin C.

Kakadu Plum – has a strong antioxidant and anti-ageing properties and is known to have the worlds richest source of Vitamin C.

Lilly Pilly – is a potent skin conditioner with anti-ageing and antioxidant benefits.

Nude By Nature is a cosmetic brand first and foremost but their products have added skincare benefits which is a bonus in my opinion. I would much prefer to have these added benefits in my products if I was going to be wearing them every day… wouldn’t you?

My only gripe with this product is the lack of shade options. If you’re Olive to Ivory, you will most likely find a shade that suits you. If you’re darker than Olive… I’m afraid it’s a big fat no to finding your shade range. This pisses me off because it’s such a QUALITY product and is IDEAL for every day, casual wear. I know myself, I hate wearing full coverage foundation on a daily basis… so I can’t be alone, right?

I am the shade W4 Soft Sand for reference.

If you give this foundation a whirl, let me know… I’d love to know how it goes for you!

LASHES | My favourites.

Who doesn’t love a good set of falsie, right? And if I’m wrong, you’ve definitely thought about trying them, wished you could put them on or you just don’t know where to start… yeah? Hahaha! Well I’m here to talk all things lashes today and since I wear glasses on the daily, I feel like I’ve got a good grasp of some fairly good types that aren’t TOO over dramatic but enough to give your look a little oomph!

XO Beauty by Shannon Harris

XO Beauty is YouTube sensation Shannon Harris’ baby. XO Beauty started off as a lash and brush brand that has now expanded into cosmetics (lipsticks and highlighters). If you’re on the hunt for affordable, easy to apply lash brand who has great variety; DEFINITELY check out Shan’s line!

The Gold Digger
The Primadonna
The Fan Girl

Social Eyes by Karissa Pukas

Karissa Pukas is a Canadian beauty who used to live in Australia. I first came across her YouTube channel about 2 years ago and that’s where I found out about Social Eyes. Social Eyes like XO Beauty are affordable, easy to apply and have a GREAT range of styles to choose from. The only thing with Karissa’s brand is that they’re a LOT longer… so I struggle to find a comfortable pair to wear with my glasses but the ones that I have tried are GREAT!

Sweet Talker
Glamourous Shorty

Glam By Manicare & Eyelure

These two are brands that you can find in Priceline or Chemist Warehouse in Australia and are a little bit pricier than the two I mentioned above but nonetheless, absolutely worth the buy!

50. Sophia (Mink Effect)
26. Olivia
32. Selena
24. Miranda
04. Bec and Bridge Limited Edition (Mink Effect)

What lashes do you girls LOVE or find yourself re-buying? Did I mention any of your favourites? (: Lemme know in the comments! Has anyone tried Lily Lashes? That’s the next one I want to try… they look LUSH!

I thought I’d go back to basics and do a old fashioned favourites post… it’s been a while, huh? I’ve complied a few of my favourite bits & bobs that I’ve been loving this past month or so…

Hourglass Hyaluronic Skin Tint
I’ve now used two samples of this foundation and can safely say… it’s the bee’s knees! Medium to full coverage and uber light on the skin… it doesn’t feel like your wearing anything to be honest and I love that! But at nearly $90… I just can’t justify spending that much on a foundation right now!

Skin Republic Skin Care & Masks
Available in Priceline. These babies firm and tighten in all the right places… I’ve used their collagen eye masks and I’ve seen a dramatic reduction in fine lines! They’re cheap as chips too! Well worth a try if you’re on the hunt for new face masks!

Jeffree Star Mannequin Velour Liquid Lip
My perfect nude!

Kylie Cosmetics Poppin’ Gloss
A oldie but a goodie… I’ve recently started putting this over JS Mannequin Liquid Lip and it makes the most incredible glossy lip! Someone needs to create a tube of this colour and sell it because I’d buy heaps! If you’ve got both these items… give it a whirl!

Rimmel London Volume Shake Mascara
One of Rimmel’s best releases lately… it’s the perfect mascara for under false lashes, doesn’t crumble and lengthens REALLY well!

Becca Split Palettes with Champagne Pop and Flowerchild
Another oldie but a good one… Champagne Pop is that one highlighter I think EVERYBODY needs in their collection and Flowerchild is the perfect pink/peach flush of colour!

Vera Wang Princess Of Hearts Fragrance
I received this perfume in PR the other week and it’s already becoming a firm favourite. I feel like I’ve been gravitating towards this scent over anything else in my collection and I don’t know why? I think it’s because it’s fruity yet floral and light. I’ll be writing up a review of this scent and must haves for Spring/Summer VERY soon….

Stila Stay All Day Brow Pencil and Liquid Liner
The brow pencil legitimately stays put until you take it off… it’s stayed for over 24hrs once, oops? Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Liner is a cult favourite and rightfully so… it doesn’t crumble, smudge or move and it’s one of the EASIEST liners to get that fleeky wing!

Nu FACE Cleansing Cloths (Prep & Glow)
The wipes trump over any drugstore cleansing wipe for removing make up! One side is exfoliating and one is cleaning and smooth. They seem relatively gentle on the skin which is what I love plus they smell GREAT and get the job done! For only $28 for 20 at Mecca, I can’t rave about them anymore…

I think that’s about it for what I’ve been religiously grabbing and using this past month. Have you tried anything new that you’ve been loving or have you been loving a old fave? Let’s chat below!

What a year 2017 has been for music, right? I thought I’d list some of the albums that I think are right up there with being the best releases of 2017, so far… we still have like a good  months left and a lot more music to be released but hey, let’s revisit this list at the end of the year?

I’ve got to show some love to my Australian fellas… Dean Lewis broke onto the scene earlier this year/late last year with his debut release Waves. If I remember rightly, Waves was played religiously throughout the Channel 7 show “Home and Away” and this is how I found out about him. He has since followed up the success of Waves with single Need You Know and Lose My Mind (not yet confirmed 99% sure it will be his next single…) and his EP, Same Kind Of Different. He has just finished up a east coast tour of Australia and will be returning again in November for a full blown national tour.
I saw him only two weeks ago while he was performing in Melbourne and I couldn’t praise this boy higher, he is such a talent and knows how to write a good tune! Plus could he be any nicer? You definitely need to grab tickets to see one of his shows!

I feel like the entire world is sleeping on Dua Lipa. Her debut release, Dua Lipa is a masterpiece. I think any girl could relate to the lyrics and find a favourite on this album. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this in it’s entirety… I feel like it’s at least once a day? Haha! Dua is a singer, songwriter and model from London, England. Since the age of 14, she has been covering songs on YouTube and was signed to Warner Music in 2015. This is going to be one girl to watch!

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT : Homesick, New Rules, Genesis and No Goodbyes |

LANY are a 3 piece American alternative band from LA. LANY have been around since 2014 but only seemed to of gained popularity/become more mainstream in late 2016/early 2017. Well at least that’s when I found out about them? LANY are Paul Klein, Jake Goss and Les Priest. You may know there tracks ILYSB, Pink Skies and yeah babe, no way or like you lots from their earlier releases. Their lyrics are relatable and true to life, their melodies are catchy and you’ll find yourself bopping away without even realising it. I can see this guys blowing up big in the next 12 or so months, kind of like how The 1975 did and to be honest, I can see why. They’re that good!

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: The Breakup, Super Far, Good Girls and ILYSB |

To be honest, I only found out about Oh Wonder earlier this year from my beautiful friend Sam. I always saw her talking on Twitter about this band called OW/Oh Wonder and thought to myself, I HAD to check these guys out and I’m glad I did. Oh Wonder are Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West who are from the UK and are what you’d called Alt-Pop in the land genres hahaha! Ultralife is their second album and it’s another one that I’ve found myself listening to on the regular lately.

| SONGS TO CHECK:  High On Humans, Heart Strings, Bigger Than Love & My Friends |

Melodrama is kiwi born Lorde’s second studio album and I kind of wanna say, it’s just as good if not better than her first release; Pure Heroine. I would describe Lorde as eclectic, artistic and not afraid to be herself. What’s not to love about that? Just do yourself a favour and listen to this album, you won’t regret it!

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: Homemade Dynamite, Sober, The Louvre & Perfect Places |

| MUNA – About You|

I literally only found out about MUNA about half an hour to a hour before writing this blog post but I can already tell you, their album About You is about to be on repeat. I thought I’d give them a whirl prior to seeing them support Harry Styles in December because who wants to sit through the support act and not know anything, right? Well I’m glad I did!

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: If You Love Me Know (probably my favourite so far) |

I feel like I’m one of the only people that appreciate how talented this guy is. Another talent from the UK (I swear there is something in the water over there, right?) who has seemingly been around a LOT longer than what most of us know… HAHA! If you don’t know who he is yet, you know his husky deep voice and you’ve probably heard his song “Human”. Give his album a whirl on Spotify and lemme know what you think?

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: Human, Love You Any Less & Bitter End |

If you don’t know who Julia Michaels is, you know songs that she has written. Her debut single Issues was a massive hit here in Australia. Her EP Nervous System is a 7 track release and explicitly showcases Michaels, writing talents. You can witness her infectious personality and quirks in her live performances and interviews. Like LANY, I can see Julia making 2018, her bitch.

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: Worst In Me & Pink |

HAIM are another group that I’ve not paid to much attention to in the past. I don’t know why but I sure as hell, know that I’ve been missing out on a talented bunch of sisters! The album is full of bops and I can’t recommend it high enough!

| SONGS TO CHECK OUT: Something To Tell You, Walking Away & Ready For You |

I’ve also got to show some love to Harry Styles’ debut release, Perennial by Vera Blue, Ed Sheeran’s Divide, Theia’s debut EP and I may be a little bias but my good pal, Trent Bell released a pretty epic EP too!

One thing, I’ve noticed is that I have a penchant for songs with lyrics that I can relate too or are meaningful in one way or another. What albums/artists or songs have you been listening to this year? Do you agree with the albums I’ve named or have you got ones of your own? Let’s chat in the comments below!

Love, being un-apologetically yourself and rel

We’ve all been there and fell for the right person at the wrong time or simply just fallen for the wrong person, we’ve witnessed relationships falter right in front of our eyes. It sucks, doesn’t it. You’re not alone. I’m almost sure you’ve either been through it once before, are going through it or will find yourself or somebody you love in that situation, sooner rather than later. It’s life, what can you do?

“We see it in all the movies. Boy meets girl. Boy and girl fall in love. And they live happily ever after – roll credits. How wonderful it would be if the world were so simple.”

Human beings are complex characters and we tend to fall for the wrong people but also commit to people that don’t bring out the best versions of our own selves. Why? I don’t know. I don’t think anybody could give you reasons as to why it happens but it does. I believe we should only settle for a love that embodies it’s purest form. When you’re at that point, you’ll know. You should be willing to give up a part of yourself and be receiving the same effort from your partner. If it’s any less than that, you know what is next… love ain’t a one person party, it’s a two way street and needs to be equal.

“So what do you do when you love a person knowing you cannot be the person he or she needs you to be?”

As hard as it is, if you’re not receiving or giving the love that you deserve… it’s time to, leave. You deserve better. You deserve somebody who drives you to dream bigger, try harder and do better. They bring out the best version of yourself and make you want to try harder than before. The right person doesn’t impose time limits on your dreams and goals, they want you to achieve them and are willing to stand by you and tackle those mountains with you. That’s the kind of love, each and every one of you deserve.

But what if you’ve fallen for someone and they don’t feel the same way? Cry, sulk about it for a little while, show them what they’re missing out on but never and I mean never, completely shut off emotionally and limit opportunities of meeting somebody new. They could be right in front of you? You just never know.

“Say YES! to more opportunities, download Tinder or a dating app and give it a whirl, go to that bar or gig by yourself and start talking to someone new… you just never know where these experiences may lead you!”

But before all this… remember, you don’t need to be in a relationship to be valued or let’s say, worthy? Everyone needs to be able to be single and un-apologetically themselves, once in a while and there is nothing wrong with that. Own your positive qualities and work on changing the things you know you could work on, I believe that’s a key point in being the best version of yourself. Everybody has the opportunity to learn and grow each and every day, utilise every day and opportunity.

I hope this doesn’t come across completely condenscending but I just had a LOT to say and it’s points and factors that I could take on myself and don’t, it’s relationships that I’ve witnessed and questioned “WHY CAN’T YOU SEE WHAT EVERYONE SEES?”, it’s friends that I’ve seen in relationships that have failed and then they’ve found the love they deserve and couldn’t be happier.

Let’s chat in the comments… love you all, Em x
